Born in KwaZulu Natal surrounded by the sugar cane industry Kurt McKenzie
loved the outdoors walking or cycling around the rural areas looking for what little game was around. Kurt started working in Botswana in 1997 where he got his Botswana Guides Licence and started conducting Mobile Safaris in 1998. Doing mobile safaris through Northern Botswana, Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park and across the border to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. He learned as much about the bush as possible and tried to translate this to his clients. In 2001 he went to the UK for some work experience and to do some travelling. Eventually missing the Constant sunshine and the wildlife of Africa he returned to Botswana. He wrote his South African Guides exam (FGASA) to give him a chance to possibly guide in South Africa as well as Botswana. Kurt has been in Botswana since 2008 freelance guiding for several Mobile Safari Companies, guiding through Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park, Central Kalahari Game reserve, Nxai and Makgadikgadi National Parks.
